The Role of Rental Housing

10:45a | Portico Rooms
Moderator: Eric Belsky, Executive Director, Harvard University Joint Center for Housing Studies

In light of recent problems with low-income homeownership and suggestions that policy-makers "went too far" in pursuing homeownership goals, the "Role of Rental Housing" panel will examine rental housing dynamics and policies in the post-subprime market. The panel will include experts in rental housing finance, policy, development, and law, and the discussion may address some of the following questions: What is the right balance of homeownership and rental housing? What are the strengths and weaknesses of rental housing vs. homeownership? How should affordable rental housing be delivered? What will rental housing policy look like in the Obama administration?

Panelists
Jeremy Liu, Director, Asian CDC
Matt Perrenod, Chief Lending Officer, Housing Partnership Network
Frances Ferguson, Director of Multi-Family Initiative, Neighborworks America
